through san francisco. some heavier rain on the peninsula from woodside to 280 and flooding is happening in the santa cruz mountains. we are looking at rain rates of an inch an hour and another additional inch is forecasted. take a look at these current wind gusts. you can see where the front has moved through. it is breezy and dangerous out there. and throw 10:15 we will be looking at flooding imminent, and then beyond that the creeks and the streams will be draining into the rivers, and then we are looking at the rivers rising right on through midday. carolyn? >> it is a wild morning. thank you, low saw. both eastbound lanes of the richmond san rafael bridge remain blocked by an overturned big rig right now. the chp won't even think about moving it until the winds die down. abc7 news reporter nick smith is on the bridge to update this storm-related news. >> carolyn, this is the first time i have had an opportunity to actually do a live shot on the richmond san rafael bridge. the reason we are here is because of the wind and the traffic situation created by the wind. that is the overtur

supplies are in good shape because of all of this. the san francisco public utility commission tells us it's reservoirs are at 83% of capacity. east bay, five reservoirs, a combined 85%. and one of the santa clara valley water district's biggest rainwater reservoirs, the lexington, is at 63%. still room for rain down there. >>> two people are dead of a getting washed into the water on the marin side of the golden gate bridge yesterday afternoon. a third person was able to make it back to shore and call 911. the coast barred and the tiburon fire department were not able to save a man and boy who were spotted in the water near the north tower of the golden gate bridge. sky 7hd was overhead as the rescue boats returned with both victims on board. their bodies were recovered just after five. they were pronounced dead when they arrived at a coast guard station. >> the unit shortly arrived within 25 minutes and recovered two bodies, one male adult and one child. those subjects were later pronounced deceased. >> a high surf advisory was in effect at the time they got swept away. >>> police mate a

equipment because they may never have been inspected. according to the san francisco chronicle the company suspects some employees lied about completing inspections required by state law. workers have been fired or suspended. pg&e has now hired 48 extra inspectors. they are hoping to have all the equipment checked by the end of the year. most of its in southern alameda and the south bay. >>> police in val johan warning of a scam involving a popular holiday gift. they have found a stash of fake i-pads. we are live in val johan right now with details of what to look out for. >> reporter: this is an i-pad and you can see on the back here it's silver and looks like it could be a picture frame and that's what scam artists are doing. they are taking picture frames and they are taking the sticker that you see here, putting it on there and wrapping it so that you can't tell. this is all in an effort to trick people and last week vallejo police pulled over somebody at a shopping center and found a stash of these fake i-pad boxes. detectives believe that the person was intending to sell them for a c

in the hospital for the next couple of days. >>> on the scene of developing news in san francisco this morning, cbs 5 reporter cate caugiran is in the excelsior district where a suspicious fire is under investigation. >>> reporter: firefighters are calling it suspicious because of how quickly the flames spread. you can see now crews are still here. we heard reports that residents did admit to having an illegal marijuana grow operation but an arson team will be investigating the cause of this fire. two people were taken to the hospital for nonlife- threatening injuries. three residents are now homeless as a result of this fire. it started around 1:00 this morning at a home near athens and peru avenue. it quickly escalated and firefighters say they had to work fast to keep it from spreading. >> when we got here, the entire house was on fire. we were able to contain that and control it but the gas line also ruptured on us at the shutoff. so we were unable to shut it off. we had to call pg&e who brought in heavy equipment. >> reporter: pg&e crews are out here because of the gas rupture that the fi

reporter anne makovec is in san francisco right now watching for this morning's king tides along the embarcadero. >> reporter: good morning. i feel like singing a blondie song. the tide is rising and it could hit the bottom of the pier by the time we're expecting to see 7-foot tides which is just before 10 a.m. let's take a look at the numbers today what we're expecting at the golden gate as we climb to that 7-foot tide at 9:45, then going back and rising to 5 feet again around midnight. we'll probably see a lot more of this. this is the connector ramp from 101 to 1 in marin. now this kind of flooding normally only happens when there's a storm, but this was caused by the so-called king tides. there is a group right now trying to document these seasonal high tides to figure out where we stand when it comes to rising ocean levels. >> the california king tides help to us visualize the dramatic tidal reefs that we're already experiencing. >> reporter: king tides are not caused by global warming. they are caused by gravity. the earthed, moon and sun in position to cause the high tides

close to freeze, not quite but definitely cold. san francisco a little more mild mid-40s there. so by this afternoon, we are going to see a lot of low to mid-50s. these temperatures are going to feel slightly cooler actually than what we even saw yesterday. so let's hit the roads and talk traffic right now. we'll take you out towards the dublin interchange. once again the roads are dry for now. and it l.a.x. like it's going to stay that -- it looks like it's going to stay that way for much of the morning. the commute, if you want to call it that, has been exceptionally quiet. i just checked in with our chp reports that have all the latest incidents and there's nothing on there right now. so westbound 580 looks great. heading towards the dublin interchange, we can take you to our maps and show you the drive time for had stretch. 15 minutes still in the green between the altamont pass to the dublin interchange. there may still be some roadwork on the eastbound lanes of 580 through livermore. not causing much of a delay at all at this point and a quick look out in the east bay. the ni

cameras here in san francisco and walnut creek. wet weather all around the bay at this hour. for a look at where that storm is heading right now, i'm here at the weather center with brian. i was on 101 at the airport coming down in sheets. >> we have ponding on the roads and minor flooding in some places. notice what we're seeing on the radar. a lot of yellow and red color showing moderate to heavy rain and the main storm front is on top of us right now producing areas of torrential down tours in some spots. the heaviest rains through about half moon bay through san francisco to the east bay and up here into the inland spots like walnut creek, dublin and livermother. quite most of the day with light rain but now it's beginning to pick up here. notice we're transitioning from the greens to the yellows and even the reds but we are beginning to see improvement for the north bay. the showers breaking up as the storm front departs. it's going to move out of here pretty quickly for tonight and about the next two to three hours we should see the rain start wrapping up but showers a
